About
Marcus is a Grammy-nominated, first-call drumset artist who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business.
In addition, he marched in The Cadets, a world-championship DCI drum corps. He was also first-chair drummer in the state, during his senior year of high school.
Marcus is also a respected educator and clinician, instructor of two national-champion high school drumlines, a teacher of dozens of private-lessons students, as well as the author of a forth-coming book about the music business.
Marcus has sung background vocals and played drums on four Billboard #1 hits, as well as a #2 hit.
The son of a US Navy captain, Marcus grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. He studied music-education at East Carolina University and history and economics at the University of Rhode Island.
Since moving to Atlanta, Marcus has played drums live or in the studio for Billy Pilgrim (Kristian Bush of Sugarland), the Zac Brown Band, Corey Smith, Barry Richman, Bobby Yang, Donna Hopkins, Lee Davis, Andrew Black, John Driskell Hopkins, Brighter Shade, Garrison Field, Big Atomic, Whitney Duncan, and many others.
Marcus has also been active in praise and worship bands at Northpoint and Peachtree Road Baptist churches.
He has recorded at dozens of studios in Atlanta and Nashville, playing sessions for major producers like Don McCollister, Rick Beato, John Keane, and Keith Stegall.
Marcus has appeared live on multiple television and radio shows nationwide. He performed at the opening ceremonies of the World Cup at The Meadowlands, and three Opening Days at Turner Field for the Atlanta Braves.
Marcus has given instructional clinics for Sonor drums and Sabian cymbals, and served as a judge for the Guitar Center Drum-Off finals.
